The weather has been just rubbish since the hail storm on the 20th and the beaches don't look great for Kitesurfing so I decide to make Biarritz my next destination. At least I get to dry everything out properly and re-set. I've decided to take the bus back to the uk for repair.

This dune is quite massive towering over the campsite. Here you can see the bus far below (top middle). I'm guessing at least 50m, two to three trees high. How/when was it put here? Must have been an awesome storm.

Down through the forest, miles and miles of managed conifers, but wait, what's that? A family of wild boar, trot across in front of me, You can see the front boar looking at me while the little boarlets follow with big boar at the back. Unfortunately no chance to take out the camera and as it is the following drivers are unimpressed with me braking on an otherwise clear straight road, perhaps they missed the boar.

Came across the last of the big lakes prior to Mimizan, there are three between Bassin d'Arcachon and Mimizan and two above Arcachon.

Back to the highway calling at the resorts as I go through, all similar surfer's towns getting scruffier the further south.

Finally at Biarritz and it's chucking it down. Drive through the town and over the river trying to decide where I'm going. A police car passes slowly goggling me and then stops way ahead putting their blue flashing light on. Don't like the look of this, I'm nervous that the lights are all good, what should I do? I'm on a dual carriage way but no central barrier. No traffic around so quick U-ee and turn into a side street to park up and decide what I'm doing. Looking for campsites I see there is a barrier controlled park just a short drive away. I know I hate these parks with no facilities, but it is still chucking it down so that's where I'm going tonight. When I find the entrance it's on a steep slope which challenges my handbrake, must get that adjusted. No opportunity to dump my kites in the tent I sleep on the back seat, uncomfortable.
