Leaving Port Meabert on the Gironde for Port Neuf on the Dordogne. It's late but the barrier is up and just a few vans on site. Tent up and filled with kites from the van, make dinner.

The sky looks ominous, rapidly gets dark, it's going to rain, throw as much as I can in the van/tent and jump into the van as the first drops fall.

FLASH-BANG, A minute later all hell lets loose, hailstones bigger than golf balls rain down. My bus is a Westy fully covered by a glass fibre roof, what a racket! BANG, that's the windscreen, thankfully laminated so it stays in place. Will it stop? Seems an age but I guess 5min later the storm passes but the rain continues.

Along with damage to the van the trees were shredded.

Along with the damage to the van the tent is shredded and everything inside soaking. Nothing to do but sleep on it, tomorrow's another day.
